Is the EcoFlow Delta Pro Still the Best in 2024?

by Hunter Kissam October 24, 2022 3 min read

Thinking of buying a new portable power station? You may think the EcoFlow Delta Pro is old news by now, after 15 months on the market, but think again. Here’s how the Delta Pro compares to the newest high-capacity solar generators on the market.

The EcoFlow Delta Pro Specs and Features

Let’s put it this way; the EcoFlow Delta Pro was designed as a portable solar generator that can back up your home. Prior to its release in July 2021, no other portable power station could offer this level of output. Still, the Delta Pro can connect directly to your home circuits and offer near-instant backup.

The lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery has a 3600 Wh capacity and is designed to handle an unprecedented 6500 lifecycles, meaning that you can discharge and recharge the battery daily for 10 to 20 years before noticing a 20% decrease in its capacity.

Also, the pure sine wave inverter allows for optimal output of up to 3600W continuously and 7200W surge.

Comparing New Solar Generators

We’ve compared the Delta Pro to other powerful solar generators like the Bluetti AC300. So, what’s been new since then? Let’s compare the two most powerful portable solar generators released in 2022!

LYCAN 5000

The January 2022 release of Renogy LYCAN 5000 marked the creation of the only portable power station with a higher capacity than the Delta Pro. The LYCAN 5000 boasts a 4.8 kWh battery capacity with a similar output capacity to the Delta Pro. The LiFePO battery can last for 4500 lifecycles, which is 2000 shy of the Delta Pro, but still quite impressive!

However, we must put the word “portable” in quotes, as the system weighs 246 pounds. That’s 2.5 times the weight of the Delta Pro. While it does come on a wheeled cart, you certainly won’t bring this power station camping with you any time soon. Also, we have to mention the price.

Honestly, if you’re interested in a serious fuel cell for home backup, you may as well buy one that’s meant for that. It’s unlikely you’ll carry around 246 pounds for use elsewhere, the price is similar to a true home fuel cell, and you can receive a 30% tax rebate on a full-scale one. For these reasons, the EcoFlow Delta Pro wins as aportablesolar generator.

Bluetti EP500

If you’re unfamiliar with Bluetti, just add a zero to the end of their model for a rough idea of the capacity. In this case, the EP500 has a 5100 Wh capacity, which is higher than the Delta Pro. However, the output capacity is lower at only 2000W. This is not enough for certain large appliances if you need a power station for home backup.

Once again, this is a more expensive model, at least $1,000 more expensive than the Delta Pro, and 68 pounds heavier! Of course, the selling point is the high capacity, but as a well-rounded system for home backup or portable power, the advantage goes to the Delta Pro.

Is the EcoFlow Delta Pro Still the Best Solar Generator?

In terms of power, there is no other portable solar generator that compares. With a 3600 Wh capacity and 3600W of continuous output, you won’t find anything stronger, unless it’s stationary.
