• The Berkey PF-2™ Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements adsorb the following unwanted elements found in drinking water:
• Fluoride: Sodium Fluoride, Sodium Fluorosilicate, Fluorosilicic Acid (aka Hydrofluorosilic Acid)
• Arsenic: V and pre-oxidized Arsenic III
• Other residual heavy metal ions
• Made from safe, non-leaching Polypropolene #5 that is BPA-free
• Sold in a set of 2
• Berkey PF-2™ Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements are designed to be used in conjunction with the Black Berkey® Purification Elements only 
• Attach to the bottom of the Black Berkey® Purification Elements and sit in the lower chamber of the Berkey unit
• Number of Berkey PF-2™ Elements in the bottom chamber must match the number of Black Berkey® Purification Elements in the top chamber; for example, 4 Black Berkey® Purification Elements would require 4 PF-2 Filters

Each set of Berkey® pf-2 filters is recommended to be replaced after 1000 gallons of water, or one year. For example, if you have a Big Berkey system (2 gallon capacity) and you refilled your system twice a day under normal conditions, you would be running 4 gallons of water through your pf-2 elements. Under these conditions, your set of 2 Berkey Fluoride Water Filter would last 250 days or a little over 8 months. Actual replacement period for your Berkey PF-2 Fluoride Filters depends on the amount of water you use and if there are high levels of fluoride or other harmful contaminants in your water. High levels of arsenic, fluoride and certain heavy metals can have a negative affect on the efficiency of the elements and the filtration flow rate.

Do I need to Prime my Berkey PF-2 Fluoride Filters?

Yes, in order to use your Berkey Fluoride Filters you have to prime them first. The filter element is very dense and contains dust from the manufacturing processes. The dust has to be rinsed out for the water to run clear and break the filtering media's surface tension. Once your PF-2 Fluoride Filter is primed, be sure to never allow the filter to dry out completely. If no water passes through for several days, the PF-2 Filters will need to be replaced.
