Titan Solar Generator Expansion Battery Guide

by Hunter Kissam November 25, 2022 3 min read

Titan solar generators are arguably the most versatile portable solar generator on the market, but they do have a finite battery capacity. If you want to prepare for power outages or large projects with power tools on cloudy days, the best thing you can do is add additional batteries for a higher capacity.

Let's talk about how to expand your batteries and what it can do for your system!

How Many Batteries Can a Titan Solar Generator Use?

Here's what you need to know about the specs of your Titan with expandable batteries, and how it affects your solar panel setup and load power draw!

Total Capacity

Each Titan battery offers up to 2000Wh of storage. Multiply that by the number of batteries you use, and it can add up to 10,000Wh, which is a lot of power! Yes, the Titan is one of the only portable solar generators that can use up to five batteries at once, which is much higher than the capacity of similar systems.

Charging Power

Even with the higher capacity, the Titan can still only take 1500W of electricity at a time (3x500W solar panels or another power source), and that doesn’t change when you add batteries. Make sure you factor in the extra given time needed to charge your system with multiple batteries.

Fortunately, these batteries can hold a charge for a long time. You can keep them in storage for months, so we recommend keeping your extra batteries charged for when you need them.

As we've mentioned before, charging with low amps is generally the best practice for optimal life span. However, fast charging with high amps occasionally won't hurt your system much.

Output

Also, the Titan's output capabilities won't change either. The pure sine wave inverter will still allow up to 3000W (6000 watt surge) of output at once, which is quite high.

However, this won't expand when you add more batteries. Still, this is more than enough for a small air conditioner, cell phone, water pumps during an outage, and plenty more.

As you can see in the pictures, the battery is different from the solar generator itself. You won't have more AC ports or USB ports, just more battery storage.

How to Combine Titan Batteries

Titan batteries attach to the bottom of the unit. Each 2000 watt hour lithium battery pack has a connection port on the top and bottom, which lock into place. Add these in a "stacking" fashion until you reach your limit.

If you add more than one battery, we recommend keeping it close to where it will stay (your RV closet, indoor table, etc.). Each battery weighs around 35 pounds, which can add up quickly!

From there, you can easily remove these extra batteries for greater portability, and optimize your solar energy setup for large input. Remember, electrical supply is one of the first steps in emergency preparedness!
