Home backup gets most of the attention, but EcoFlow power stations earn their keep in four other places: on job sites, in detached garages and workshops, at campsites, and in tiny homes and off-grid cabins. Each has different loads, a different ideal unit and a few tricks that make the difference between a power station that gets used every day and one that sits in a closet. This guide covers all four, then closes with the maintenance and troubleshooting notes that apply everywhere.
Tool labels overstate what you will use over a day, but start-up surges are real and a power station has to handle them.

A typical trim carpenter's day of saw cuts, a compressor for the nailer, chargers and lights comes to about 1.5 to 2.5kWh. A framing crew running a table saw and compressor all day uses more like 4 to 6kWh.
Surge rating decides it. The DELTA 3 Max Plus ($1,199) surges to 6,000W and delivers 3,000W continuous with 2,048Wh, which starts a table saw or compressor and carries a finish carpenter through a day. The DELTA 3 Ultra ($1,499) surges to 7,200W with 3,072Wh and a 30A outlet, and is the better pick for a full crew or a long day with a compressor. For a punch-list day with chargers, lights and a cordless-tool-heavy workflow, a DELTA 3 Plus ($699) is enough and weighs 27 lbs.

An outbuilding without power is a storage unit. Running a trench and conduit from the house costs thousands and needs a permit; a power station and a panel costs a fraction and needs an afternoon.
For lights, opener, chargers and occasional tools, a DELTA 3 Max ($899) with a single 400W panel on the roof is a complete system that never needs to come inside. Add a freezer and step up to the Max Plus with two panels. If the garage is within cable reach of the house, the simplest solution is a heavy-gauge extension cord to the power station's AC input: charge overnight from the house, run the shop from the battery all day, no trenching required. For a shop with a table saw, dust collector and compressor, look at the Delta Pro or a fixed Power Kit.
Two cautions. Do not plan to heat a garage with a battery; a propane or kerosene heater does that job for pennies, and the power station runs the lights and tools. And if you want wall outlets and switches in the outbuilding rather than cords from the unit, an electrician can wire a small subpanel fed from a generator inlet that you plug the power station into; that is legal and clean, and it keeps the unit portable.
Camping is the use case power stations were invented for, and the numbers are gentle. A family's weekend of a 12V fridge, lights, phones, a fan and morning coffee is about 1.5 to 2.5kWh a day. A DELTA 3 Plus covers a weekend without charging; a DELTA 3 Max covers a long weekend with a fan every night. Add one 220W bifacial panel and the trip length stops mattering.
The camping-specific advice is short. Charge from the vehicle while you drive; the alternator charger makes this fast, and even the 12V port adds a few hundred watt-hours over a long day. Put the panel out in the morning and re-aim it at lunch. Run the fridge on 12V DC from the car port rather than through the AC inverter to skip about 15 percent of losses. Keep the unit in the shade; LFP cells do not like sitting in a hot tent. And check the campground rules: many now allow power stations in generator-free loops, which is the whole point. This is where a portable power station becomes a house battery. A modest off-grid dwelling with a propane range and water heater, LED lighting, a 12V or efficient AC fridge, a laptop or two, a water pump and a mini-split or window unit in the shoulder seasons uses roughly 3 to 6kWh a day. Heating with electricity is off the table on battery; propane or wood does that.
A Delta Pro with two Smart Extra Batteries stores 10.8kWh, two to three days of that load, and accepts 1,600W of solar, which refills it in about two hours of sun. Four 400W rigid panels on the roof reach that input. Total cost is about $5,300 plus panels, it needs no permit, and if you move, it moves. Wire the cabin's outlets to a generator inlet and plug the Delta Pro into it, and the house has normal switches and outlets. For 240V, a well pump or more than 3,600W, step up to the DELTA Pro 3, which expands to 48kWh.
If the dwelling will never move and you want the battery out of sight, EcoFlow's Power Kits in 2 to 15kWh sizes are designed for exactly this: a power hub, stackable LFP batteries, a distribution panel and app control, installed in a closet or under a bench. They cost more than the equivalent Delta Pro system and are not portable, but they are cleaner in a permanent build.
Measure or estimate your daily kWh, multiply by two for a cloudy-day buffer, and that is your battery. Then size panels to replace a full day's use in about four hours of sun: daily kWh divided by four, in kW of panels. A 4kWh-a-day cabin wants about 8kWh of battery and about 1kW of panels, which is one Delta Pro, one extra battery and three 400W panels. Our battery sizing guide goes deeper.

The battery management system blocks charging below about 32°F to protect the LFP cells. Bring the unit indoors, let it warm to room temperature, and charging will resume. Discharging is permitted at lower temperatures than charging.
The AC standby timer saw no load while the fridge's compressor was idle and switched the output off. Disable or lengthen the AC auto-off timeout in the EcoFlow app and the fridge will run normally.
Between roughly 0°F and 113°F, never in a hot vehicle, at about 50 to 80 percent charge, and topped up every three to six months. Never store it empty. For a standby backup unit, set a charge ceiling of 80 to 90 percent in the app and leave it plugged in.
