Both are 1,024Wh LFP power stations with 1,800W of continuous AC output and a weight around 27 lbs, and both take extra batteries. What the DELTA 3 adds is a faster wall charger, a higher surge rating, a quieter fan, a longer cycle-life rating and a five-year warranty. The DELTA 3 Plus adds a second solar input and 140W USB-C ports on top of that.

If you already own a DELTA 2, keep it. If you are buying new and can stretch to the DELTA 3 Plus at $699, do. If you want the cheapest reliable 1kWh EcoFlow and can live with slower charging, the DELTA 2 at $449 is a genuinely good deal now that the new generation has pushed its price down.

What Changed, and Why It Matters

Charging speed

The DELTA 2 charges at 1,200W from a wall outlet. The DELTA 3 raises that to 1,500W and, with EcoFlow's X-Stream fast charging, goes from empty to full in about 56 minutes. That is the difference between topping up over lunch before a camping trip and plugging in the night before. If you use a power station daily, or you rely on brief windows of grid power during rolling outages, the faster charger alone can justify the upgrade.

Surge and X-Boost

Both units deliver 1,800W continuously, which covers most household appliances. The DELTA 3 raises the surge rating from 2,700W to 3,600W and X-Boost from 2,200W to 2,400W. In practice the higher surge means the DELTA 3 is less likely to trip when a compressor-driven appliance like a fridge or a small air conditioner starts up, and the higher X-Boost means it can run slightly larger resistive loads like a kettle or hair dryer.

Cycle life and warranty

EcoFlow rates the DELTA 2 at 3,000 cycles to 80 percent capacity. The DELTA 3 Plus is rated at 4,000. Used once a day, that is the difference between roughly eight years and roughly eleven before you notice the capacity fade. The DELTA 3 also carries a five-year warranty with registration, which is the longest EcoFlow has offered on a 1kWh unit.

Noise

The DELTA 3 uses stepless fan control that holds noise at or below 30dB under loads up to about 600W. DELTA 2 owners will know the fan is audible under load. If your power station sits in a bedroom or a tent, this is a real quality-of-life upgrade.

Solar input (Plus only)

The DELTA 2 and DELTA 3 both accept 500W of solar. The DELTA 3 Plus doubles that to 1,000W with two independent 500W inputs, which halves the solar recharge time to about 70 minutes in good sun. Expansion

The DELTA 2 takes one extra battery, either a DELTA 2 Smart Extra Battery for 2,048Wh total or a DELTA Max Extra Battery for 3,040Wh. Battery capacity is unchanged at 1,024Wh, so runtime for any given appliance is essentially identical. Continuous output is the same 1,800W. Weight is within half a pound. Both use LFP chemistry, both have app control, both support car charging and alternator charging, and both are the right size to carry in one hand. The DELTA 3 is not more powerful in the sense of running bigger loads for longer; it is the same class of tool that charges faster, lasts longer and makes less noise.

Should Existing DELTA 2 Owners Upgrade?

Probably not, unless one of the following is true:

• You charge from solar and panels are your bottleneck. The DELTA 3 Plus's dual 500W inputs are a meaningful upgrade over any single-input unit.
• You rely on short grid windows. Rolling outages or a generator you only want to run for an hour make the 56-minute full charge worth a lot.
• Noise bothers you. If the DELTA 2 fan keeps you up in a tent, the DELTA 3 is noticeably quieter.
• Your DELTA 2 is nearing the end of its cycle life and you would be replacing it anyway.
