The Short Answer

The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus is the sweet spot of the DELTA 3 lineup. It has the same 1,024Wh LFP battery and 1,800W inverter as the cheaper DELTA 3 and DELTA 3 Classic, but adds a second solar input, 140W USB-C ports, a sub-10 millisecond UPS switchover and an IP65-rated battery pack, for $70 more than the DELTA 3 and $170 more than the Classic. For camping, tailgating, a home office through an outage, or a fridge and a few essentials for a day, it is the unit we recommend first.

What It Runs

An 1,800W inverter covers the vast majority of household plug-in devices. Based on its rated output and the runtime math on a 1,024Wh battery, the DELTA 3 Plus handles all of the following:

• A full-size refrigerator, including compressor start-up, for roughly 14 to 17 hours on the internal battery.
• A 1,500W space heater on high, for about 35 minutes, or about 70 minutes on the 750W setting. Space heaters are the appliance that most quickly exposes what a 1kWh battery can and cannot do.
• A CPAP without a heated humidifier for three or more nights on a single charge.
• A laptop, monitor, router and phone charger for a full work day with capacity to spare.
• A microwave, coffee maker, blender and electric kettle, one at a time. The 1,200W kettle and 1,800W hair dryer both ran under X-Boost.

Charging: The Reason to Pick the Plus

Wall

Plugged into a standard outlet, the DELTA 3 Plus pulls up to 1,500W and goes from empty to full in about 56 minutes. You can throttle the charge rate in the app if you would rather charge slowly to extend cycle life, or if you are on a shared circuit.

Solar

This is the headline. Two independent MPPT inputs each accept up to 500W at 11 to 60V. With 1,000W of panels in good sun, the Plus fills in about 70 minutes. With a single 220W bifacial panel, expect roughly five to six hours of decent sun. The dual inputs also mean you can run two different panel arrays, for example a portable panel on the ground and a flexible panel on a van roof, without worrying about mismatched voltages dragging each other down. Vehicle

Through the standard 12V car port the Plus charges slowly, as every power station does. Pair it with EcoFlow's 800W Alternator Charger and it fills in about 1.3 hours of driving, which turns a road trip into a charging session. Combine AC and solar and the unit prioritizes solar to minimize what it pulls from the wall.

UPS Mode

Leave the Plus plugged in with a router, modem, desktop computer or CPAP plugged into it, and when the grid drops the Plus takes over in under 10 milliseconds. That is fast enough that nothing reboots. For a home office this is the feature that makes a power station worth owning even if you never take it camping. The DELTA 3 Classic and standard DELTA 3 do not list a sub-10ms switchover on their product pages, so if this matters to you, the Plus is the one to buy in the 1kWh tier.

Noise and Build

Stepless fan control keeps the Plus under 30dB at loads up to 600W, which in practice means you do not hear it in a tent or a bedroom. Under heavier loads the fan spins up, as it must, but it is a low hum rather than the whine older power stations produced. The battery pack carries an IP65 rating, which is unusual in this class and means dust and rain splashes on the pack are not a concern, though the unit as a whole is not meant to sit out in the weather. At 27.6 lbs it is a comfortable one-hand carry by the integrated handle.

Expansion

The Plus accepts one extra battery. EcoFlow lists compatibility with the DELTA 3 Extra Battery, DELTA Pro 3 Smart Extra Battery, DELTA 2 Smart Extra Battery and DELTA 2 Max Smart Extra Battery, for a system total of up to 5kWh. That backward compatibility is generous: anyone stepping up from a DELTA 2 keeps their existing battery. What We Would Change

• Four AC outlets is fewer than the six on the DELTA 2. In practice a power strip solves it, but it is a step backward.
• Only one extra battery. The 5kWh ceiling is plenty for a portable unit, but if you think you will want more, the DELTA 3 Max Plus scales to 10kWh.
• No 30A outlet. RV owners who want to plug in a shore power cord should look at the DELTA 3 Ultra.
